Cooling capacity is commonly expressed in Tons of Refrigeration (TR). Chiller systems can range from small capacities to hundreds of TR.


The TR capacity of a compressor is not fixed by its type alone. It depends on the model, refrigerant and operating conditions.

1–5 TR Smaller HVAC Systems Common range seen in many residential rotary and scroll platforms.
